Cable Aerial Al 22 Kv 1x50 Sq mm for Thailand
Another type of electrical cable commonly found on utility poles is Spaced Aerial Cable, or SAC. Today, let's learn more about this type of cable.
Commonly known as SAC, is a single-core cable used in medium-voltage overhead aerial systems. SAC cables are compacted stranded aluminum conductors covered with XLPE insulation and sheathing. SAC cables are manufactured in accordance with TIS 2341-2555, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) standards, and are rated at 25 kV and 35 kV.
The 25 kV SAC cable is for the 22 kV (PEA) or 24 kV (MEA) power systems, while the 35 kV SAC cable is for the 33 kV (PEA) power systems.

Construction
1. Conductor: Compact round stranded hard-drawn aluminium wires
2. Conductor: Semi conductive cross-linked polyethylene
screen: (XLPE) compound
3. Insulation: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE)
4. Jacket: Black cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE)
SAC Cables are designed to be lightweight and resistant to weather and UV rays. SAC cables are ideal for outdoor installations atop utility poles. It is commonly used in the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand's high-voltage distribution system, and SAC cables are used to carry power from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand's high-voltage system to transformers.
SAC cables are classified as partially insulated cables. Although they contain insulation and a sheath, the thickness of the SAC cable is sufficient to protect against short-term short circuits. For example, it can temporarily protect against short circuits caused by wind-blown tree branches. However, if the tree grows so that the branches touch the cables continuously, the SAC cable's insulation will be unable to withstand the short circuit and eventually cause a short circuit. Furthermore, the SAC cable structure lacks a metal screen to ground the cable to reduce induced voltage. Therefore, the SAC cable cannot be directly handled or touched with bare hands.
SAC cables must be installed on insulating materials, such as insulators or spacers. SAC cables cannot be installed directly in contact with structures or run on cable trays. Furthermore, SAC cables cannot be installed in such a way that they touch each other.
